Every month we run demos of every major model that passes through our Mitchell showroom. We watch sports, movies, daytime soaps, and late-night gaming sessions on them all. Here are the five TVs we'd buy ourselves in 2026 — at each price tier.
#1 — Best Overall: LG C4 OLED 55" ($1,699 CAD)
Year after year, the LG C4 holds its position as the TV that home theatre reviewers worldwide point to as the benchmark. Self-lit OLED pixels, 120Hz, four HDMI 2.1 ports, Dolby Vision IQ, and webOS 24 — it does everything right for movies, gaming, and everyday TV watching.
For a Canadian living room that gets some daylight but isn't bathed in direct sun, the C4 will look stunning. It's also the one we recommend most to customers who are upgrading from a 5-to-10-year-old TV for the first time — the difference is genuinely jaw-dropping.
#2 — Best for Bright Rooms: Samsung QN85D Neo QLED 65" ($2,199 CAD)
If your living room faces west and catches afternoon sun, the Samsung QN85D is your answer. Neo QLED with Quantum Matrix Pro can hit brightness levels that make OLED look dim by comparison. The 65-inch version is our most popular TV in Perth County right now — it's the size families actually want.
The 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro also make it an exceptional gaming screen. If you have teenagers in the house, this one covers everybody.
#3 — Best Value Large Screen: TCL C855 QLED 65" ($949 CAD)
Under $1,000 for a 65-inch QLED with 144Hz, Google TV, and Dolby Vision sounds too good to be true. With the TCL C855 it actually delivers. It doesn't quite match the Samsung at absolute peak brightness, but it's genuinely excellent picture quality that would have cost $2,500+ just a few years ago.
Our honest recommendation: if budget is a real consideration, don't feel embarrassed to buy the TCL. It will surprise you.
#4 — Best for Gamers: Hisense U8N Mini-LED 55" ($849 CAD)
Three thousand Mini-LED dimming zones, 144Hz, IMAX Enhanced certification, and AMD FreeSync — the Hisense U8N is arguably the best gaming TV available in Canada at under $1,000. It's also Google TV, so it's genuinely smart out of the box.
#5 — Best Budget Pick: Samsung Q60D QLED 50" ($649 CAD)
For a bedroom, kitchen, or cottage, the Samsung Q60D does everything you need. Samsung's QLED colour technology, Tizen smart TV with all the major apps, and a clean slim design. At $649 CAD, it's the TV that makes budget buyers smile the biggest.
